About.
Mark is an American designer settled in Paris in 2000. Designer and visionary, he invites you to explore his universe through the design projects of Studio Koushi and his photography.
Discover the story of Mark and his brand below.
When Mark left Texas in 2000, he had no idea he would settle in Paris for good. At the time, his only work experience was with his family’s construction company—perhaps where he developed his artisan’s touch. After completing his studies in architecture, he set off for France in search of new adventures.
Mark’s journey into photography began with an internship at Bloom magazine, where he discovered his passion for capturing images. This experience opened doors to working with numerous magazines and connecting with creatives from all fields. Drawn to objects and materials, he quickly developed a deep appreciation for design.
Raw materials, organic shapes, a pencil, and off he goes exploring all sorts of creative horizons. He is an artist and an artisan: he draws, designs objects and creates them with a very instinctive know-how, working with wood as well as metal or ceramics. Some might say he is a jack-of-all-trades, but he tends to think of himself simply as a creative, a lover of beauty, and this love compels him to explore all possible ways of expression in a raw and minimalist spirit. He cherishes this freedom, timeless and outside any defined framework.
His journey has brought him beautiful encounters and professional collaborations. In his early days, he honed his skills alongside Nelson Sepulveda before becoming independent for decoration magazines such as Hermès, Marie Claire Maison, Elle Deco or Côté Sud.
Soon, he felt the need to express himself beyond images and began designing objects. He has collaborated with brands such as Maison de Vacances (Koushi pendants), Ay Illuminate, Atmosphère d'Ailleurs (Kute and Pypl collections), and PO! Paris (felt lighting).
The purpose of this website is to share the intimacy of his work, as well as his favorite pieces in limited editions.
It's a page of his artistic life to visit and explore regularly, like setting off in search of a lovely finding... New things will be added over time, as inspired by new encounters and inspirations.
